Psychological Evaluations

Sensitive WLS experts

help you find what you need to succeed

Most people who've had weight loss surgery tell us that no part of their lives has gone untouched.   Feelings, actions, relationships, habit patterns and the reactions of others all dramatically change. These everyday changes are some of the psychological impacts of the surgery.  Your WLS success may depend on your preparation for these changes.

The goal of the psychological evaluation is to help you better understand your personal adjustment to the changes in your life after WLS.  As a result of the psychological evaluation, you will be on the road to preparing yourself for success!

At Obesity2Balance you can be sure that we are respectful of your needs. We will give effective and practical recommendations that you can use in your life. We are here for you. We love helping people find what they need to prepare for surgery and to get healthy after surgery.

  • You want to draw on your personal strengths to help you integrate new lifestyle changes into your new life.
  • Your insurance company requires it.

One Week Turn-around:
The report getting to your surgeon quickly is important because, we understand how many hurdles you have to jump through to get to the weight loss surgery you need. We are committed to have your report on the way to your surgeon within one week of your appointment with us.

Is a bariatric psychological evaluation required?

A pre-surgical bariatric psychological evaluation may be required by your surgeon or your insurance company.

Many surgeons recognize that gastric bypass surgery is not only a medical issue but also a life-changing event. These surgeons want to make sure that you, the patient, are emotionally ready for the surgery and have the support needed to make life changes after the surgery.

Even if your surgeon doesn't require a psychological evaluation, you will benefit from guidance regarding the emotional impact and changes to expect. You will receive this information, tailored especially to you, in an O2B psychological evaluation.

We provide bariatric psychological evaluations for you, either at your own or your surgeon's request, to make recommendations for interventions that may be helpful to get you on the track to health and vitality after WLS.
